MRED alumni chapter

The Master of Real Estate Development (MRED) alumni chapter brings together experienced real estate professionals to share ideas and information that help each person realize their full potential while improving the community and supporting ASU and the MRED program.

The purpose of the MRED alumni chapter is to:

Support, through various means, the Master of Real Estate Development Program at Arizona State University;
Engage and further relations among MRED alumni;
Provide scholarships to the Master of Real Estate Development program at Arizona State University;
Develop solid fundraising activities/events in support of MRED scholarships;
Serve as a resource to Master of Real Estate Development students at Arizona State University;
Establish strong ties and communications with Real Estate industry members;
Provide professional development opportunities for MRED members.

In addition to center events open to all real estate alumni, MRED alumni have access to limited-capacity opportunities throughout the year.

Synthesis projects are a cornerstone of the MRED program. We encourage alums to meet with current students to help them refine their projects by sharing your expertise and feedback. Your insights are valuable in showing students how classroom concepts apply to real-world situations. You'll also have the opportunity to attend the synthesis project presentations to show your support for the students.

CREate: An MRED scholarship celebration

More than 150 alumni and friends gathered for the last MRED alumni chapter scholarship awards, which serves as the marquee fundraising event for graduate real estate program scholarships. The annual CREate celebration supports the W. P. Carey MRED program and its exceptional alumni community. Proceeds directly fund scholarships and program support, ensuring that the next generation of MRED graduates has the resources and opportunities to excel while continuing to elevate the program’s reputation and impact within the industry.

In addition to funding scholarships, MRED alumni serve as mentors for current students in the program. The Icon Award recognizes exceptional leaders who excel in their careers and uplift the next generation through mentorship and service.

2026

This year marks the 20th anniversary since the founding of the Master of Real Estate Development at ASU. We are proud to honor our upcoming ICON Award winner, Wellington “Duke” Reiter, Senior Advisor to the ASU President Michael M. Crow, and founder of the MRED program in 2006. His responsibilities include large, multi-stakeholder efforts in higher education, sustainable urbanism, and advancing the New American University mission at ASU.

Reiter is the former Dean of the College of Design at Arizona State University, the past President of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and a long-time faculty member at MIT in the Department of Architecture. He is a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects and a Trustee of the Urban Land Institute, where he co-founded the University Development and Innovation Council dedicated to merging institutional and city interests.

2025

The inaugural honoree was Greg Vogel (BS Real Estate ’85), CEO and Founder of Land Advisors Organization. Land Advisors is the premier national advisory group focused on land, capital, and brokerage. Vogel has long been a champion of ASU and the business school’s real estate offerings, playing a key role in galvanizing support through his involvement with the Real Estate Council, Real Estate Advisory Board, and the ASU Foundation. Vogel’s commitment to the industry extends to several leadership positions in the Urban Land Institute (ULI), where he served as Trustee and Governor, Chair of the ULI Community Development Council (BlueFlight), and as a member of the ULI Foundation Board of Directors.

Three MRED scholarship recipients were honored at the last CREate event for their contributions to public value in the real estate sector:

Ahmed Mulic, a first-generation student with a commitment to education and a unique experience in affordable housing.
Trynity Scott, who translates her nonprofit experience to real estate with an emphasis on artistic design and community-focused spaces.
Blake Beauvais, founder of a nonprofit focused on homelessness who continues to be inspired by the connection between real estate development and broader social issues.
